Sunday 13th July; the woods to Marston Junction
It’s time to move on. The weather was very pleasantly cool as there was cloud cover, and it was forecast to be a little less hot than yesterday.
Still cool and lovely A figwort at our mooring, should be over a metre tall but
it probably got mown!
We left at about 9.30, and pottered along to just before the winding hole at bridge 21. I nipped up to Sainsburys to get some milk and the paper, while Dave took Jess to explore the Dumbles, an area of green space of which Nuneaton seems very proud. It’s not a huge area, but there’s a field for frisbee and a stream for dogs to have a drink and a splash about. Then we continued our journey, past the allotments and the housing, trying to find something different to photograph.

By midday the cloud had cleared and once more it was blisteringly hot. We started to look for some shade for a lunch stop and nabbed a space under an oak tree just before Marston Junction.
We judged there would be enough shade to keep us from overheating, even when the side of the boat was exposed to the sun during the afternoon, and decided to stay. It was a good call – with judicious juggling of curtains and hopper windows, and enough breeze to keep the air flowing through the boat, the temperature was ok – just. It was a beautiful evening.

There was no signal on the boat wi-fi, but we both got signals by tethering our phones.
About 4 miles
